IS 2334 : 2001/ISO 1502:1996 ISO General Purpose Metric Screw Threads - Gauges and Gauging

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 1502:1996 ‘ISO general-purpose metric screw threads - Gauges and gauging’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of Engineering Metrology Sectional Committee and approval of the Basic and Production Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally issued in 1969 and revised in 1975. The first revision was based on lSO/R 1502:1970 ‘ISO general purpose metric screw threads - Gauges’. This revision has been taken up to harmonize with ISO 1502:1996.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as Indian Standard without deviations. In the ISO Standard certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is especially drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
