IS 2368 : 2018/ISO 2433 : 1999 Machine Tools - Test Conditions for External Cylindrical and Universal Grinding Machines with a Movable Table - Testing of the Accuracy
Reaffirmed 2023
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 2433 : 1999 ‘Machine tools — Test conditions for external cylindrical and universal grinding machines with a movable table — Testing of the accuracy’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Machine Tools, Machine Tool Elements and Holding Devices Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 1963 and subsequently revised in 1979 and 1993. The second revision of this standard was identical with ISO 2433 : 1984 ‘Acceptance conditions for external cylindrical grinding machines with a movable table — Testing of accuracy’. The third revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 2433.
In this revision, besides other changes, designation of axes and terminology for machine components have been included. The tolerances have been made more stringent. Test for accuracy and repeatability positioning for numerically controlled grinding machines have been included and the Practical test has been renamed as Machining tests.
IS 9809 : 1991 ‘Test chart for crankshaft grinding machines’ will be Superseded by this standard after its publication.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
