NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 5593 : 1997 ‘Rolling bearings - Vocabulary ’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Bearings Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1964 and subsequently revised in 1988. First revision was identical with ISO 5593 : 1984 ‘Rolling bearings - Vocabulary’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 5593 : 1997.
