This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical withISO 1986 : 1985 Acceptance conditions for surface grindingmachines with horizontal grinding wheel spindle and reciprocatingtable - Testing of accuracy issued by the InternationalOrganization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau ofIndian Standards on the recommendations of the machine Tool Basicsand Modular Units Sectional Committee (PE 03) and approval of theproduction Engineering Division Council.

This standard was first issued in 1964 based on DIN 8632 : 1942.The first revision was done to align the requirements laid down inISO recommendation ISO/R 1986 : 1971. Consequent upon thepublication of ISO 1986 : 1985, this standard has been revised byadopting ISO 1986 : 1985, to bring it in line with ISO standard.
