IS 2977 : 1989 Fabrics (Other than Wool) - Method for Determination of Dimensional Changes on Soaking in Water

1 Scope

1.1 This standard prescribes a method for determination ofdimensional changes of all woven and knitted fabrics, other thanthose containing more than 50 percent wool, on soaking in water,without agitation.

1.2 The method is intended only for the assessment ofdimensional changes undergone by fabrics subjected to a singlesoaking procedure. When it is desired to determine the amount ofprogressive dimensional changes, the test specimens should besoaked repeatedly and the amount of dimensional changes of thesoaked specimens and the number of soaking cycles to which thespecimens has been subjected, be indicated clearly in the report.
