IS 3016 : 1982 Code of practice for fire precautions in welding and cutting operations

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers the recommendations for the practicesfor prevention of loss of life and/or property by fire orexplosions arising out of the use of gas and electrical-equipmentsfor the purposes of welding, cutting and similar operations.

1.2 General precautions recommended cover the normal work areadesignated for the fabrication and maintenance activities usingwelding, cutting and allied processes and also special situationshaving potential fire hazards.

1.3 Special precautions recommended cover the situations orlocations which are susceptible to fire or explosion hazardsarising out of the presence of naked flame or sparks, capable ofigniting the combustible materials present in the area.
