1 Scope
This standard prescribes four methods for the determination ofchloride. The argentometric method is suitable for use inrelatively clear waters when 0.15 to 10 mg of chloride is presentin the portion titrated. The end point of mercuric nitrate methodis easier to detect. Potentiometric method is suitable for colouredor turbid samples. The ferricyanide method is an automatedtechnique, In case of any difference of opinion, the argentometricmethod shall be the referee method.
