IS 3025 : Part 45 : 2024 Methods of Sampling and Test (Physical and Chemical) for Water and Wastewater - Part 45 Sodium and Potassium
1 SCOPE
This standard (Part 45) prescribes following five methods for determination of sodium and potassium in water and wastewater:
a) Flame emission photometric method using either a flame photometer or an atomic absorption spectrophotometer in the flame emission mode;
b) Atomic absorption spectrometric method using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer in flame absorption mode (0.20 mg/l to 4.0 mg/l for potassium and 0.20 mg/l to 3.0 mg/l for sodium);
c) Gravimetric method for determination of sodium and colorimetric method for determination of potassium;
d) Determination of potassium using Ionselective electrode method; and
e) Inductively coupled plasma spectroscopy for determination of sodium and potassium.
