1. Scope

1.1 Replacement

This standard covers the general and safety requirements for electric water boilers of rated loading not exceeding 5.0 kW and connection to supplies of voltages not exceeding 250 V ac single phase 50 Hz or dc.

1.2 Replacement

This standard does not apply to :

a)Appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions pervail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas);

b)Appliances for high-frequency heating;

c)Appliances of the electrode type;

d)Storage water heaters, which are covered by a separate standard;

e)Instantaneous water heaters, which are covered by separate standard;

f)With rated capacity not exceeding 10 1 are covered under a separate Indian Standard.
