1 Scope
This clause of IS 302-1 (1979) is applicable except as follows:
1.1 Replacement
This standard applies to electrical appliances primarilyintended for massage purposes and for use under household andsimilar conditions, their rated voltage not exceeding 250 V, acsingle phase or dc.
Appliances not intended for normal household use but whichnevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such asappliances intended to be used by lay men in places other than thehome are within the scope of this standard.
Appliances intended primarily for purposes other than massage,but which have accessories for massage purposes are within thescope of the standard covering the primary function.
This standard dos not take into account the special hazardswhich exist in nurseries and other places where there are youngchildren or aged or infirm persons without supervision; in suchcases additional requirements may be necessary.
