1 Scope

This clause of IS 302-1 (1979) is applicable except as follows:

1.1 Replacement

This standard applies to electric spin extractors with a loadcapacity not exceeding 5 kg of dry textile material and a containerperipheral speed not exceeding 50 m/s, their rated voltage notexceeding 250 V, ac single phase or dc.

Spin extractors incorporated in electric washing machines arewithin the scope of this standard, irrespective of their loadcapacity.

Spin extractors not intended for normal house-hold use, butwhich nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such asspin extractors for communal use in blocks of flats or inlaundrettes, are also within the scope of this standard.

This standard does not apply to spin extractors for commerciallaundries.

For spin extractors intended to be used in vehicles or on boardships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary.
