IS 302 : Part 2 : Sec 59 : 1999 Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2 : Particular Requirements - Section 59 : Insect Killers

1 Scope

This clause of IS 302-1 : 1979 is applicable except follows:

1.1 Replacement

This standard applies to safety of electric insect killers forhousehold and similar purposes.

Note 1 - This standard does not take into account the specialhazards which exists in use of this appliances by young children oraged or infirmed person without supervision. In such cases,additional requirements may be necessary.

Note 2 - This standard does not apply to:

- insect killers which function by emitting vaporized chemicals;and

- insect killers intended to be used in location where specialcondition prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosiveatmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).

Note 3 - For insect killers provided with discharge or tungstenfilament lamps IS 10332 (Part 5/Sec 1) also applies.
