IS 326 : Part 24 : 2017 / ISO 7660 : 1983 Methods of Sampling and Test for Natural and Synthetic Perfumery Materials Part 24 Determination of Ester Value of Oils Containing Difficult-to-Saponify Esters ICS 71 .100.60 PCD 18
Reaffirmed 2022
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 24), which is identical with ISO 7660 : 1983 ‘Essential oils - Determination of ester value of oils containing difficult-to-saponify esters’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards after the draft finalized by the Fragrance and Flavour Ingredients Sectional Committee had been approved by the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.
An Indian Standard IS 326 (Part 8) exists for ‘Determination of ester value, content of esters and combined alcohols’ which is identical to ISO 709 : 2001. There are some esters which are difficult to saponify for which ISO has developed a separate test method, ISO 7660. The Committee has accordingly decided to adopt the ISO 7660 : 1983 under dual number system and while adoption the main title of exiting series of IS 326 has been retained.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
