NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 8096 : 2005 ‘Rubber-or plasticscoated fabrics for water-resistant clothing - Specification’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards after the draft finalized by Rubber and Rubber Products Sectional Committee had been approved by the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1965 and subsequently revised in 1987. Keeping in view various types of coated fabrics available at that time for water-resistant clothing, the Committee decided to publish this standard in two parts:

a) Specification for water-resistant clothing: Part 1 PVC-coated fabrics; and

b) Specification for water-resistant clothing: Part 2 Polyurethane and silicone coated fabrics.
