IS 3351 : 2006 /ISO 4020 : 2001 Road Vehicles - Fuel Filters for Diesel Engines - Test Methods

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard ( Second Revision ) which is identical with ISO 4020 : 2001 ‘Road vehicles — Fuel filters for diesel engines — Test methods’ issued by the international Organization for Standardization ( ISO ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on ‘the recommendation of the Automotive Primemovers, Transmission and Steering Systems and Internal Combustion Engines Sectional Committee and approval of the Transport Engineering Division Council.

The Indian Standard was first published in 1968 and then revised in 1991. The second revision, is undertaken in view of the revision of the base standard.

In this standard the following changes have been incorporated:

a) New tests such as ‘Tests for cleanliness of new filters’, ‘Fabrication integrity test’, ‘Water separation’, Pulsating pressure fatigues test vibration resistance fatigues test size included.

b) Instantaneous filtration efficiency and filter life test are being dealt in detail.
