Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 11) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 4662 : 2017 Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic - Determination of rebound resilience’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards onrecommendation of the Methods of Test for Rubber and Rubber Products Sectional Committee, and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1985 and subsequently revised in 1983. This standard covers test procedures for determining the rebound resilience of vulcanized rubbers. It employs a mechanism which has a part that strikes the rubber test piece with known mechanical energy and is then free to rebound. First revision was based on the following standards:

i) ISO 4662-1978 (E) Rubber - Determination of rebound resilience of vulcanizates; and

ii) ASTM D 2632-1979 Rubber Property - Resilience (Vertical rebound), American Society for Testing and Materials.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
