1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers preparation of test pieces and theprocedure of testing the adhesion of rubber to metal where thesehave been bonded and vulcanized.

1.1.1 These tests may be used after suitable modification forknowing the comparative bond strength of production parts wheneverthe design permits preparation of suitable test pieces. It is alsouseful for preparation of test pieces in the laboratory understandard conditions to provide data for the development and controlof rubber vulcanizates for rubber-metal bonding purposes. Resultsobtained with one procedure will not necessarily be identical withthose obtained with the other procedure.
