NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3) (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 4649 : 2017 ‘Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic — Determination of abrasion resistance using a rotating cylindrical drum device’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Methods of Test for Rubber and Rubber Products Sectional Committee, and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1965 and subsequently revised in 1987 and 2018. The first revision of standard was based on ISO 4649 : 1985. The second revision of this standard was undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 4649 : 2010. The third revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 4659 : 2017.
