1 Scope
1.1 This standard (Part 2) prescribes method for thedetermination of the time required for rupturing of metal testsample subjected throughout their duration to nominally constanttensile load and constant temperature conditions, in single andmulti-test sample rupture testing machines, for time up to 100 000h. It defines the properties to be determined and the terms used indescribing tests and test samples.
1.2 This standard is applicable to un-interrupted andinterrupted tests on test samples of circular and rectangularcross-section and on test samples of circular cross-section havinga notch and also on test samples from tubes.
1.3 The standard is applicable to the conditions of heating thetest sample in an electric resistance or radiation furnace in airor atmosphere pressure, unless other media are specifically agreedupon in advance.
1.4 This standard is not applicable for conditions of rapidheating, rapid strain rates or too short times.
