NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 1119 : 2011 ‘Geometrical product specifications (GPS) — Series of conical tapers and taper angles’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the General Engineering and Fasteners Standards Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1966 and subsequently revised in 1981 and 2001. The third revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO standard.

This standard is a geometrical product specification (GPS) standard and is to be regarded as a general GPS standard (see ISO/TR 14638). It influences chain links 1 and 2 of the chain of standards on angle.

The ISO/GPS Masterplan given in ISO/TR 14638 gives an overview of the ISO/GPS system of which this document is a part. The fundamental rules of ISO/GPS given in ISO 8015 apply to this document and the default decision rules given in ISO 14253-1 apply to specifications made in accordance with this document, unless otherwise indicated

For more detailed information of the relation of this standard to other standards and the GPS matrix model, see Annex A.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
