IS 3600 : Part 5 : 2018/ISO 5173 : 2009 Method of Testing Fusion Welded Joints and Weld Metal in Steel Part 5 Destructive Tests on Welds in Metallic Materials - Bend Tests
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 5) (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 5173 : 2009 ‘Destructive tests on welds in metallic materials — Bend tests’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Welding General and its Applications Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1966 and subsequently revised in 1973 and 1983. It covered the various tests on fusion welded joints and weld metal in steel. The third revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 5173 : 2009.
This standard is published in various parts. Other parts in this series are:
Part 1 Cruciform fillet weld tensile test
Part 2 Beam impact (Charpy V-notch) test
Part 3 Destructive tests on welds in matallic materials — Transverse tensile test
Part 4 Longitudinal tensile test on cylindrical all weld metal test pieces using butt joints
Part 7 Longitudinal root and face bend test on butt welds
Part 8 Nick break test and fillet weld fracture test
Part 9 Macro and micro examination
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
