IS 3660 : Part 10 : 2000 Methods of Test for Natural Rubber - Part 10 : Determination of Nitrogen Content [NR:11]

1 Scope

This Indian Standard prescribes a Macro method and a Semi-micromethod for the determination of nitrogen in raw natural rubber andin natural rubber latex using variants of the Kjeldahl process.

Note - The determination of nitrogen in natural robber isusually carried out in order to arrive at an estimate of theprotein content. Minor amounts of non-proteinous nitrogencontaining constituents are also present, however, and in the drysolids prepared from natural rubber latex these materials can makea substantial contribution to the total nitrogen content.
