IS 3664 : 1981 Code of practice for ultrasonic pulse echo testings by contact and immersion methods

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers guidelines and methods for ultrasonictesting of metallic materials for discontinuities orinhomogeneities by the pulse echo method using A-scan presentation.Section.1 deals with the requirements common to the varioustechniques of pulse echo ultrasonic flaw detection, while Sections2, 3 and 4 deal with the specific requirements concerning straightbeam, angle beam and immersion techniques respectively.

1.2 The guidelines specified in this standard do not cover B-and C- scan presentation. They also do not cover ultrasonic methodsused for measurement of wall thickness, grain size, attenuationvelocity, etc, nor do they cover ultrasonic testing using Lambwaves and surface waves.
