This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 7987 : 1985`Woodworking machines - Turning lathes - Nomenclature andacceptance conditions, issued by the International Organizationfor Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of IndianStandards on the recommendations of the Woodworking MachinesSectional "Committee (PE 01) and approval of the ProductionEngineering Division Council.

This standard was first issued in 1966 and subsequently revisedin 1976. Consequent upon the publication of ISO 7987 : 1985, thisstandard has been revised by adopting ISO 7987 : 1985 to bring itin line with ISO standard. In this revision, clause references ofISO 230-1 : 1986 for method of tests has been incorporated whichwere not there earlier.
