IS 3809 : 1979 Fire resistance test for structures

1 Scope

1.1 This standard specifies standard heating and pressureconditions, a test method and criteria for the determination of thefire resistance of elements of building construction of variouscategories, such as walls and partitions, columns, beams, floors,roofs, etc.

Note - The list is not exhaustive. Elements which fall into noneof these categories may be tested by analogy with a similarelement.

1.2 The test provides for the determination of fire resistanceof elements of building construction on the basis of the length oftime for which the test specimens of specified dimensions, satisfythe criteria laid down under the prescribed test conditions duringthe period of fire exposure.
