1. Scope

1.1 This guide deals with application of overcurrent relays for ac systems covered by IS: 3231-1965* for generators and motors.

1.2 This guide does not cover:

a) the principles of system design and system protection, and

b) application of such relays which form an integral part of a motor starter.
