IS 3944 : 1982 Methods for determination of flowtime by use of flow cups

1 Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the dimensions and the method of useof flow cup suitable for measuring the flow time of paints,varnishes and related products of newtonian and near-newtonian flowproperties, of kinematic viscosity in the range of 25 x 10^-6 to 150 x 10^-6 m²/s (25 to 150 centistokes).

Note : The method is only suitable when the break point of theflow of product from the orifice of the cup can be defined withcertainty. For paint products, this is normally found only inpaints having a kinematic viscosity of not more than 150centistokes, such as the thinner brushing paints and those used forspraying, dipping, flow coating, etc.
