1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard covers types of preservatives, their brief description, methods of treatment, choice of treatment for different species of timber for a number of uses and determination of degree of penetration. Prophylactic treatment oflogs and sawn timber duringstorage is also covered.

1.2 This standard includes only such preservatives and methods of treatment which have given satisfactory results under the Indian conditions of service.

The Indian Standards listed in Annex A contain provisions which through reference in this text, constitute provision of this standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated in AnnexA.
