This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 883 : 1985`Indexable hardmetal (carbide) inserts with rounded corners,without fixing hole - Dimensions', issued by the InternationalOrganization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau ofIndian Standards, on the recommendations of the Single PointCutting Tools, Carbide Tips and Indexable Inserts SectionalCommittee and approval of the Production Engineering DivisionCouncil.
This standard was first published in 1967 and was revised in1985 to bring it in line with the work done at ISO level. Thetechnical committee responsible for formation of this standarddecided to revise the same and adopted ISO 883 : 1985.
