IS 4031 : Part 2 : 1999 Methods of physical tests for hydraulic cement: Part 2 Determination of fineness by specific surface by Blaine air permeability method

1 Scope

This standard (Part 2) covers the procedure for determining byBlaine air permeability apparatus, the fineness of cement asrepresented by specific surface expressed as total surface area incm²/g.

Note : This method is also being used for determination offineness of various other materials. However, it should beunderstood that the values obtained are relative rather thanabsolute.
