This Indian Standard (Part 4) (Third Revision) which is identical to ISO 262 : 2023 'ISO general purpose metric screw threads - Selected sizes for bolts, screws, studs and nuts' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of General Engineering and Fasteners Standards Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council

This standard was first published in 1967 and was subsequently revised in 1976 and 2001. This revision has been brought out to align it with ISO 262 : 2023.
