NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2/ Sec 1) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60745-2-1 : 2003 ‘Hand-held motor-operated electric tools - Safety - Part 2-1: Particular requirements for drills and impact drills’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Rotating Machinery Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was first published as IS 4665 (Part 2) : 1984 ‘’and it was based on CEE Pub 20 II-1975 BS 2769 : 1964. This revision has been undertaken to align this standard with the latest version of IEC 60745-2-1.
