NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (Second Revision) which is a modified adoption of ISO 3548-1 : 2014 ‘Plain bearings - Thin-walled half bearings with or without flange - Part 1: Tolerance, design features and methods of test’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Bearings Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1968 and subsequently revised in 1982. The first revision was based on ISO 3548 : 1978, ‘Plain bearings - Thin-walled half bearings - Dimensions, tolerances and methods of checking’ issued by the British Standards Institution. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 3548-1 : 2014.
