NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 3548-2 : 2020 ‘Plain bearings - Thin-walled half bearings with or without flange - Part 2: Measurement of wall thickness and flange thickness’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Bearings Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1968 and subsequently revised in 1982. The first revision was based on ISO 3548 : 1978, ‘Plain bearings - Thin-walled half bearings - Dimensions, tolerances and methods of checking’ issued by the British Standards Institution. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 3548-2 : 2020.

In the previous version, the specification for thin-walled half bearings without flange were covered in Part 1 and with flange were covered in Part 2. In this revision, the specification for both the bearings with and without flange are covered in Part 1 and only the measurement of wall thickness and flange thickness is covered in this part of the Indian Standard.
