IS 4786 : 2014 Variable High Pressure Regulators (VHPR) for Use with Liquefied Petroleum Gases Specification

ICS 23.060.40; 75.160.30 MED 16

Reaffirmed 2019

1. Scope

1.1 This standard specifies materials, construction, performance, safety and testing requirements for ‘variable high pressure regulators (VHPR)’ for use with quefied petroleum gases (butane, propane and their mixtures) in vapour phase above 4.903 kN/m2 [50 gf/ cm2 or 500 mm water column (WC)], outlet pressure and up to 686.42 kN/m2 (7 kg/cm2) outlet pressure.

NOTE — Generally LPG appliances are being designed to operate at a pressure of 1kgf/cm2, but specialized equipment may call for use of still higher pressures.

1.2 This standard does not cover rules for installation of regulators during actual use and reference should be made to applicable rules.
