NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 4875-2 : 2006 ‘Metal-cutting band saw blades — Part 2: Characteristics and dimensions’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Cutting Tools Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering DivisionCouncil.
This standard was first issued in 1969 as ‘Flexible-back metal cutting band saw blades’, and revised in 1982 in three parts as ‘Specification for metal cutting band saw blades’ Part I ‘Definition and terminology’, Part II ‘Tolerances’ and Part III ‘Dimensions and requirements’ based on ISO Standards. The committeehas now decided to adopt ISO 4875-2 : 2006 in dual numbering system to keep pace with the international practices. Accordingly, this standard amalgamates IS 5030 (Part 3) : 2005. This standard is now publishedin two parts. Other part is:
Part 1 Vocabulary
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminology and conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
