1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers design, construction, observation andmaintenance of relief wells provided for earth dams resting onpervious soil foundations. The principles, however, may also beapplied to other structures (such as spill-way aprons, headregulators and-other appurtenant structures) involving perviousfoundations, where uplift pressures are likely to develop.
