NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 647 : 2017 ‘Brown coals and lignites - Determination of the yields of tar, water, gas and coke residue by low temperature distillation’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Solid Mineral Fuels and Solid Biofuels Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1969 and subsequently revised in 2017. First revision of this standard was identical with ISO 647 : 1974. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 647 : 2017.
