IS 5062 : Part 5 : 2018/ISO 1017 : 2006 Methods of Test for Brown Coals and Lignites Part 5 Determination of Acetone-Soluble Material (Resinous Substance) in the Benzene-Soluble Extract
Reaffirmed 2023
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 5) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 1017 : 2006 ‘Brown coals and lignites - Determination of acetone-soluble materials (“resinous substance”) in the benzenesoluble extract’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Solid Mineral Fuels and Solid Biofules Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1973 based on ISO/R 1017 : 1969 and revised in 2004 to align it with ISO 1017 : 1985. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with latest version of ISO 1017. In this revision, the material is determined in benzene-soluble extract instead of the earlier toluene-soluble extract and accordingly, the title of the standard also been modified.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are however not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
