NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Fourth Revision) which is identical with ISO 1346 : 2021 ‘Fibre ropes - Polypropylene split film, monofilament and multifilament (PP2) and polypropylene high tenacity multifilament (PP3) - 3-, 4-, 8- and 12- strand ropes’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Cordage Sectional Committee and approval of the Textiles Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1969 and subsequently revised in 1982, 1992 and 2014. The fourth revision of this standard has been undertaken to harmonize it with the latest version of ISO 1346 : 2021.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker. while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
