1 SCOPE

This standard prescribes the methods of measurement of sulphation rate in air, using lead peroxide as one of reagents. Lead peroxide, due to its oxidizing power, converts other compounds such as mercaptans and hydrogen sulphides into sulphates. It also fixes sulphur trioxide and sulfuric acid mist present in the atmosphere. It converts oxides of nitrogen into nitrates.
