This Indian Standard (Part 1), which is identical withISO-5837/1 : 1985 `Implants for surgery - Intramedullary nailingsystems - Part 1 : Intramedullary nails with cloverleaf or V-shapedcross-section; issued by the International Organization forStandardization (ISO) has been adopted by the Bureau of IndianStandard on 26 June 1989 on the recommendations of the OrthopedicInstruments and Accessories Sectional Committee (MHDO2) andapproval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning DivisionCouncil.

Wherever the words `International Standard' appear referring tothis standard, they should be read as `Indian Standard'.
