1 Scope
1.1 This standard lays down the methods of sampling and test forindividual oils, fats and fatty materials. It contains definitionsof terms used in trade and industry and prescribes the methods fordetermining moisture, insoluble impurities, acid value and freefatty acids, unsaponifiable matter, melting point, refractiveindex, specific gravity, titre of mixed fatty acids, colour, iodinevalue (Wijs), saponification value, acetyl value and hydroxylvalue, allyl isothiocyanate content, Reichert-Meissl value andPolenske value.
1.2 Test methods, neither prescribed in this standard norspecified in standards for individual materials, shall be subjectto agreement between the purchaser and the supplier.
1.3 Should any inconsistency be found to exist between themethods prescribed in this standard and those prescribed in thestandard for an individual material, the latter shall prevail.
