NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 8/Sec 3) which is identical with ISO 6888-3 : 2003 ‘Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs - Horizontal method for the enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci (Staphylococcus aureus and other species) - Part 3: Detection and MPN technique for low numbers’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Food Hygiene, Safety Management and Other Systems Sectional Committee and approval of the Food and Agriculture Division Council.
This standard (Part 8) is published in three sections. The other sections in this series are:
Section 1 Technique using Baird-Parker agar medium
Section 2 Technique using rabbit plasma fibrinogen agar medium
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
