NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 5753-1 : 2009 ‘Rolling bearings — Internal clearance — Part 1: Radial internal clearance for radial bearings’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Bearings Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1970 and subsequently revised in 1992.First revision was identical with ISO 5753 : 1981 ‘Rolling bearings — Radial internal clearances’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 5753-1 : 2009.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) Normative references are updated;

b) Terms and definitions have been updated;

c) Bearings of larger diameter have been included in all the tables;

d) Radial internal clearance for toroidal roller bearings has been added; and

e) Radial internal clearance for double-row self-aligning roller bearings have been added.

This Indian Standard is published in two parts. The other parts in this series is:

Part 2 Axial internal clearance for four-point-contact ball bearings

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
