IS 5983 : 1980 Eye-protectors

1 Scope

1.1 This standard specifies eye-protectors intended for use inindustrial undertakings to provide protection for the eyes againsthazards such as flying particles and fragments, splashing materialsand molten metals harmful dust, gases or vapours, aerosols andradiations which are likely to impair vision or damage the eyes.

Note - Where eye-protector is incorporated in protectiveequipment, such as a hood, helmet or respirator, the portionsaffording eye protection should comply with relevant requirementsof this standard.

1.1.1 This standard, however, does not cover eye-protectors foruse against nuclear radiations, X-rays and laser beams.
