ICS 03.120.30

MSD 03

1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard (Part 1) lays down the following tests of significance:

a) One-sample test - Testing of mean of a population against a specified value:

1) when the population variance is known, and

2) when the population variance is not known.

b) Two-samples test - Testing equality of means of two populations:

1) when the variances are known, and

2) when the variances are not known.

c) Testing for equality of variances of two populations.

d) Testing for proportions.

1.2 This standard does not include the t-tests for regression coefficient and correlation coefficient as they are covered in IS 7300 ‘Methods of regression and correlation’.
