NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 3767-2 : 2016 ‘Tractors, machinery for agriculture and forestry, powered lawn and garden equipment - Symbols for operator controls and other displays - Part 2: Symbols for agricultural tractors and machinery’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards after the draft finalized by Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Sectional Committee had been approved by the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

This standard (IS 6283) was originally published in 1971. In the first revision in 1998, the standard was split into two parts, Part 1 was an identical adoption of ISO 3767-1 : 1991 and covered common symbols under dual numbering, and Part 2 was an identical adoption of ISO 3767-2 : 1991 and covered the symbols for agricultural tractors and machinery. The standard (Part 2) was subsequently revised in 2007 to align with ISO 3767-2 : 1998 under dual numbering. ISO 3767-2 has now been revised in 2016 and this revision of IS 6283 (Part 2) has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 3767-2.
