NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Fourth Revision), which is identical with ISO 1703 : 2017 ‘Assembly tools for screws and nuts - Nomenclature’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has been adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Hand Tool Sectional Committee, PGD 34 after approval of the Production and General Engineering Department.

This standard was originally published in 1971 and subsequently revised in 1981, 1996 and 2014. The third revision was identical with ISO 1703 : 2005 ‘Assembly Tools for Screws and Nuts - Designation and Nomenclature’. The fourth revision of this standard has been undertaken to align with the latest version of ISO 1703 : 2018.
