IS 6303 : Part 4 2023/IEC 60086-4 : 2019 Primary Batteries - Part 4 Safety of Lithium Batteries
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 4) (Third Revision) which is identical with IEC 60086-4 : 2019 'Primary batteries - Part 4: Safety of lithium batteries' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Primary Cells and Batteries Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.
IS 6303 series is published in various parts. Other parts in the series are:
Part 0 General (second revision)
This standard was originally published in 1971, first revised in 1984 and second revised in 2013. This revision has been taken up to align with the latest international standard. The following significant technical changes have been included in this revision:
a) Revised criteria for an explosion;
b) Addition of test parameters for the over discharge test of battery types FR14505 and FR10G445;
c) Addition of a new sub clause 5.1 Validity of Testing;
d) Revised pictogram E in Table D.1;
e) Addition of Annex E with requirements for child resistant packaging of coin cells;
f) Addition of Annex F with recommendations on the use of the keep out of reach of children safety sign.
The Indian ambient conditions given in National Annex G shall be applicable for this standard.
The text of the IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard,they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
